happy 2023 and happy gardening 101!
January to March 2023
in some parts of the world, it's spring!
you'd think that after doing some minimal gardening, i would be able to plant some stuff. but NO. if i do an hour of gardening, i would be aching all over for at least a week and i wouldn't be able to move then.
what i'm planting

what i'm planting
- pandan (good) - 2 pots front garden, 3-4 plants planted back garden
- galangal / langkuas / blue ginger (wait and see - 6jan)
- turmeric / kunyit / yellow ginger (wait and see - 6jan)
- curry leaf
- limau purut tree (doesn't look too good, leaves a bit yellow)
- money plant
- 9 o clock flowers - pots
- 9 o clock flowers - flower bed below fence
- mummy's keng hwa
- onions and ginger - kitchen window
what grows on its own
- orchids x3
- purple flowers - creepers on fence
- purple blue flowers - shrubs next to papaya tree
- weird baobab type plants - 3 big pots + 2 tiny pots
(i found out one type is called the dessert rose or adenium)
- papaya tree
- grass - kinda wild!
langkuas & tumeric in one pot >> to 2 different pots

The Garden - front

trimmed the lemongrass shrubs - wah, so fragrant!!
took plenty of pictures of the orchids!!
swept the leaves on the floor while it rained for a while...
My Myna
- think the chicks grew up in the porch roof hole
so they probably heard me talking to hawkeye almost everyday
spent quite some time talking to the myna hahaha!!
one of the mynas keeps responding to my whistles that i used when talking to hawkeye LOLOL it also nodded its head and opened its wings.... awwww...
hwi ching's money plant - new beginnings
i re-planted the money plant back into the original pot.
i took a few dying ones out and put them in water for months... they grew!!
hope they like what i did to the soil in the oild pot - loosen the soil and added some charcoal.
9 o clock flowers. -preparing for the flower bed along the wall
transfered some 9 o clock flowers to a new pot... actually to 2 new pots!
in one pot, i used the metal spade to loosen the soil - found a lu. p in the pot and threw it around, thinking it was a rotted carrot i put in there weeks ago, during cny. it kinda jump and made me scream!!! it was... the lump was... ... TOAD. ugggh. poor thing!!
nursed money plant babies re-planted into original pot!
planted some onions outside too!
grabbed some lemongrass leaves for my pot...
the leaves are sharp!!
today the purple and white orchids are not lonely!
they're surrounded by flowers!

kyikyi cut the grass about 3 days ago.
so the garden was pleasant and easy to work in!
decided time to transfer plants into different pots!
2 pandan >> to bigger pots
1 babyish curry leaf >> to bigger pot - broke the stems :(((
langkuas & tumeric in one pot >> to 2 different pots
9 o clock flowers > start a new pot!
orchids - check, and then, i broke one orchid flower :(((
the garden at night looks kinda neat too! :D
spring onions growing well here
but not the 9 o clock flowers and money plant.
not sure whyyyyyy

what the garden looks like after 1 month...
(since kyi kyi cut the grass on 1 feb)
my radishes have died and turned into compost hahaha!!

after some grass cutting and tidying, the back garden looks great!!

kyi kyi did a great job with the back garden!! within 1-2 hours!
she did about 3/4 of the garden but it looks amazing! LOL

Finally... Christen starts to cut the grass at the back garden.
grass hasn't been cut since Aug 2022 ...?
we started around 10.30am
and ended around 12.15pm.
wow tiring! and eyes were painful when the sweat got into my eyes!
