31 Oct 2018 blog entry
Finally, it will happen on 19 Nov 2018
my RENO NIGHTMARE continues...
my uneven floors will be repaired.
it could end up worse but will be great if it's done properly.
below: old plan - we added one more row of tiles on site on 19 nov 2018 because contractor needs the distance to level out the floor tiles such that it will not slope when it connects to the kitchen tile/area.

DAY 2
20 Nov 2018
10.35am
one worker arrives but he doesn't have the tiles... i go off to the clinic for blood tests etc and have lunch before i get back.
2.50pm
i reach the flat and there are 2 of them. they start work, laying the tiles at around 2.55pm. takes about 5 min for one tile
some care taken to lay tiles near kitchen first before tackling the bomb shelter area. this is to repair or correct the height of floor so that it will be levelled at the kitchen. previously there was a slope which looks quite risky.
3.40pm
about 3.40pm the contractor comes with another worker and they lay the tiles near the kitchen - to correct the slope - under the contractor's supervision. chatting and jokes have stopped and they work in silence in front of big boss Lol
finally, the boss lays the deciding tile himself.
and... the... moment of truth...
... it's about 0.3mm higher than the kitchen tiles but not as bad as the sloping tiles from last time
at the end of Day2... abt 6.30pm
they drilled around the bomb shelter door as the base was too high
living room and kitchen tiles
the mess...
quite a mess along the corridor
DAY 3
21 Nov 2018 wed
9.30am
check bomb shelter door -
yes! the door can swing open all the way!
we had to open up to grab the 8 spare tiles given to me earlier.
today the plan is to finish laying all tiles, do skirting and grout touch up. maybe clean up will be tom.
below - he's placing tile on floor, checking on the area, ht, level ... and to see if there are enough tiles to finish up. this boy is quite skilled and detailed in doing the tiles. he makes sure the pattern of the veins are of the right direction before laying the tiles. he's also the only one in charge of cutting tiles. quite focused too and he's under the supervision of a tall indian worker who's more skilled and experienced.
note to self - check finishes (polish) on skirting and entrance step (done)
at 5pm... checking the grout, preparing to touch up grout & preparing to clean up. quite a mess...
omg they have a lot of cleaning up to do!
at the end of day 3,
wed, at around 6-7pm
DAY 4
